Robert Metcalfe is Professor of Innovation and Murchison Fellow of Free Enterprise at The University of Texas at Austin. Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Cockrell School of Engineering. Also, a Polaris Venture Partner. Invented Ethernet at Xerox Parc in 1973. Founded 3Com Corporation in Silicon Valley in 1979. Received the National Medal of Technology in 2005.
