Roadmap, our experience design conference, kicks off tomorrow!

If haven’t heard already, we’ve spent this past year organizing what’s going to be an awesome two-day conference focused on experience design called Roadmap. And, we are super stoked to announce that Roadmap officially kicks off tomorrow (Tuesday), at 9AM, at the Yerba Buena theater in downtown San Francisco. There are just a few tickets left if you haven’t gotten yours already.Yerba Buena

We’ll tackle topics like how to build experiences that your customers emotionally connect with and love from the makers of Airbnb, Square and Nest. Newcomers like Tinder will share how to design a user interface that’s addictive and viral. Experience design will also be crucial to the creation of wearables and the connected home, and you’ll hear from Samsung, Honeywell, Misfit Wearables and others on these topics.

In a happy coincidence Tuesday is also the day that design thinking pioneer Don Norman’s revised edition of his classic book The Design of Everyday Things goes on sale. Gigaom’s Rani Molla interviewed Norman earlier this year on the changes in design versus the change in tech:

“The Design of Everyday Things was published in 1988. Now, 25 years later, it’s amazing how the fundamental principles of design have not changed. That’s because people have not changed. However technology has changed a lot so the kinds of technologies to which these principles have to be applied are a lot different today than they were 25 years ago. Actually my real challenge in rewriting is, how can I describe things today so that 25 years from now it will still be correct?”

Norman has spent over two and a half decades pondering the changing role of design for technology, and we’ll be spending two full days on this idea, noting trends like the rise of the designer founder, and the hunger for designers at leading startups. At Roadmap you’ll learn about these trends from creative thinkers like:

  • Jack Dorsey, CEO and co-founder of Square
  • Tony Fadell, CEO and co-founder of Nest
  • Joshua Brewer, Former Principal Designer Twitter
  • Beth Comstock, CMO, SVP GE
