Realmac Software announced Thursday an update to its recently released screenshot capture app Ember. Version 1.1 of the digital scrapbooking tool is set to introduce a new smart drawing capability that will take your shoddily drawn annotations and neaten them up.
Now, when viewing captured screenshots, beyond the usual cropping, rotation and text tools, Ember boasts the clever new drawing feature. Previously, you could only add annotations, lines and shapes to your snaps by drawing them in freehand. The new Smart Drawing feature compliments this by intelligently recognizing when you draw a square, rectangle, oval or circle and transforming it in to a clean, movable object. The feature also works with arrows.
The upcoming feature can be toggled on and off, either by tapping on the Smart/Freehand Drawing button, or by holding down the ALT key on your keyboard. As to why you would want to use unsightly freehand wiggles, that is another matter.

The free feature update, part of version 1.1 of Ember, is expected to arrive in the Mac App Store on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
