Electric car maker Fisker Automotive announced over the weekend that it is recalling a cooling fan unit in its Karma car that caused a slow burning fire earlier this month. Fisker says it will replace the cooling fan in the Karmas, and will also install an additional fuse “for added protection.”
Fisker says that the recall campaign “is not expected to have a material financial impact on Fisker.” Fisker also reassured customers in the release that the fire was not due to its power train technology. Previously Fisker has also fixed faulty batteries made by A123 Systems in its Karma car, and has also delivered software upgrades for the car.
Fisker investor Ray lane said last week that the company is looking to raise another $150 million — on top of its previously raised $1 billion — to continue development of its second car the Atlantic. Advanced Equities is leading the fund raise.
