Microsoft (s msft) announced Windows Phone 7 handsets from nine manufacturers that will run on 60 carriers in 30 countries worldwide, including Verizon (s vz) and Sprint (s s) next year in the U.S.
The manufacturing partners include Samsung, LG, Dell (s dell) and HTC. Besides U.S. launch partners AT&T (s t) and T-Mobile, WP7 will also be available on Deutsche Telekom AG, Movistar, O2 (s oiim), Orange, SFR, SingTel, Telstra, TELUS (s tu) and Vodafone (s vod).
Many of the phones, which will ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (s qcom), will be available this holiday season with more to come next year. Microsoft plans to sell the select models at its Microsoft stores and online at Amazon (s amzn).
