While many of us are looking forward to zero emissions rides, the truth of the matter is that the petrol-burning variety is going to be sticking around for a good long time. That’s why it’s neat that companies like DriveGain are helping drivers improve the efficiency of their current cars through iPhone apps. Although it’s limited in its current iteration, future versions promise to include support for automatic transmissions (a must in the U.S.) and iOS 4 compatibility. So, even if your prospects of becoming an EV driver in the foreseeable future are slim, at least there are innovators out there that can help make hypermilers out of the rest of us.
