Samasource, Valley Businesswomen to Host Nov. 12 Charity Gala

samasourceAfter Samasource, a non-profit that pairs people in the developing world with tech work, presented at the fbFund Demo day, a handful of investors in the audience raised their hands and said they’d donate to its cause. The non-profit provides computer-based work for women, youth and refugees in countries such as Kenya and Pakistan and counts among its donors Playfish Co-founder and COO Sebastien de Halleux and “The 4-Hour Workweek” author Tim Ferriss.

samasource 2To raise more money, Samasource is teaming up with prominent businesswomen in Silicon Valley, including Facebook’s Randi Zuckerberg and Women 2.0 CEO Shaherose Charania, to host the invitation-only GiveWork Charity Gala on Nov. 12 at the University Club in San Francisco. At the event, you can bid to win 20-minute coffee meetings with Nobel Prize-winning economists Myron Sholes and George Akerlof.
