Notice a trend lately? Big tech players putting corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the news. Yesterday, Intel, Dell, HP and Motorola signaled that they are taking conflict minerals seriously. Dell made news again by producing an encouraging CSR report and establishing more aggressive carbon-cutting goals. Lastly, AMD touted its goals to cut carbon emissions by a third by the end of 2010. Whether AMD’s actions are enough sway green IT buyers is anyone’s guess (it certainly can’t hurt), but it can use every advantage it can get to compete against Intel.
