The 2013 task management tools market

1Executive Summary

The task-management market is an area of growing interest. Its growth is propelled in part by users’ needs to coordinate with teams via mobile. In this case, heavier-weight solutions like Yammer, IBM Connections, Podio, and other work media collaboration platforms don’t always suffice. But the rationale for digital to-do lists that can be shared across project teams is obvious, and both the range of offerings and the competition among them is likely to increase in the near term. We expect that 2013 will involve more innovation and new entrants into this crowded and hot marketplace.

This report reviews 10 leading applications designed for teams to share tasks. These are generally known as task-management tools. The report evaluates them principally on the strength of their team support and the richness of the task data models, which were used to array the tools on a 10-by-10 matrix, as seen in Figure 1.

Stowe… where do you put the traditional players in this space, Active Operations Management & Reveal?

    1. AOM looks like a workforce resource allocation tool, not a task management tool, per se. And I can’t find Reveal. Do you have a link?
