Investments into the next generation of location and augmented reality applications are as big as the buzz around them. Novel and clever applications are appearing that connect the applications environment into the vast pool of content on the web. But while we’re seeing amazing apps and demonstrations, we’re still not seeing compelling revenue models.
On Wednesday, April 28, a select group of about 75 entrepreneurs, investors and technologists gathered at the GigaOM offices to debate how we will monetize location and AR services. In this session, we explore what revenue models will work in the near term, and what timelines we might see for the realization of further revenue. The conversation was moderated by GigaOM Pro Analyst Phil Hendrix.
A few speakers will lead the debate at the forum, but the overall emphasis will be on participation and comment by all those invited. Our conversation leaders included:
- Matt Galligan, SimpleGeo
- Tom Coates, Yahoo!
- Marc Davis, Invention Arts
- Rahul Sonnad, GeoDelic
- Michael Liebhold, Institute for the Future
- Ted Morgan, Skyhook
We’ll be livestreaming the event right here from 9:30 a.m. (PST) to 12:30 p.m. (PST). (Please note: There is no dial-in information. The event will be shown as a live video embedded in this post.) Please submit questions or comments for our speakers and attendees in the comments area below. We’ll review all submissions made before 6 a.m. (PST) on April 28.
