Losses in health care

Introduction

In 2012 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) reported that 27.5% of losses in health care were from unnecessary services. 24.8% were due to excess administrative costs and 17% of losses were from inefficient care delivery. The other nearly 30% of losses were from inflated prices, prevention failures and fraud.
