In general, the small car (like the Nissan Leaf) is the best configuration for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). These smaller, lightweight vehicles help to reduce the size of the battery needed to achieve the desired range. Pike Research predicts that, by 2017, 86 percent of battery-electric vehicle sales in 2017 will be small cars.
