Steve Daniel is an Analyst for Gigaom Research and collaborates with other analysts in designing and developing custom market sizing and forecasting models. He has worked with 100’s of analysts, building custom models forecasting almost every technology product, service, and market. For 21 years, Steve was an independent contractor working exclusively for IDC, collaborating in a significant portion of their large custom client market forecasts projects. He also designed and developed several of their internal forecasting tools and trackers. More recently, Steve has worked with other analysts and firms covering Cloud Services and Storage, Enterprise Storage, Legal Software, Consumer Electronics, Professional Services, Enterprise Risk/GRC, Technology after Market Service and Support, and Personal Devices (Desktop PCs, Mobile PCs, and Tablets).

Since founding Daniel Research Group, Steve has developed methodologies and algorithms that address and solve many of the most challenging, yet common, problems that technology market forecasters and analyst face. He has also developed an approach that manages the entire collaborative forecasting process from setting initial objectives, to final deliverable. He has published a number of papers covering both theoretical and practical technology forecasting topics.

Steve has a BS from Northeastern University and an MBA from New York University. Prior to founding Daniel Research Group, Steve worked in the Banking/Leasing Industry as a financial analysts, and then in product marketing and market research for a computer manufacturer. He is a member of the American Marketing Association, The Marketing Association of America, and the American Statistical Association.
