Robert B. Cohen, PhD, has worked closely with major corporations and innovative startups to demonstrate new technologies that are changing the cloud, such as Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization. He has also analyzed how new technologies affect the economy and job creation. From 2011 to 2014, he was Director of the Enterprise Cloud Leadership Council of the TM Forum, an industry organization where he helped forge working partnerships with the Open Data Center Alliance and the Open Mobile Alliance. He is also a fellow at the Economic Strategy Institute, where he used Input/output techniques to estimate how the Internet and broadband would affect US growth and employment. Dr. Cohen served as the Open Grid Forum’s Area Director for Enterprise Requirements and a member of its Steering Committee. He has taught at NYU’s Stern School of Business, the City University of New York, The Cooper Union, and Columbia University and been a consultant to Ryan-Hankin-Kent and a number of infrastructure firms.

He holds MA and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the New School for Social Research and a BA from Swarthmore College. His books include Non-Tariff Barriers to High Technology Trade, the New North American Order, and Changing the Face of the Internet.
