Katherine Austin is an Analyst for Gigiaom Research and the president and founder of KDA Consulting, a market intelligence firm with a bipartite focus in cleantech and biotech. As Principal Analyst, she focuses on renewable energy, green building practices, water purification and environmental remediation. Her background in scientific research gives her an edge in spotting disruptive technologies and analyzing their potential impact on the status quo.
Katherine has extensive experience in market intelligence in emerging technologies, with over 18 years’ experience. She has served as a consulting analyst with Lux Research, Frost & Sullivan, the United Nations, Decision Resources, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She is a Member of the Guidepoint Global’s Advisors Panel and Gerson Lehrman Group’s Council of Healthcare Advisors, two global networks of thought leaders and industry professionals who advise investment analysts and executives on emerging technologies. She has been interviewed by publications such as the New York Times, Business Week, and Forbes magazine. She received her BSc from Harvard University and her PhC from the University of Washington in Seattle. Prior to becoming a consultant, she was a research scientist at the University of British Columbia.
