John du Pre Gauntt is currently an Analyst for Gigaom Research and an adjunct at the University of Washington Master of Communications in Digital Media program (http://mcdm.washington.edu), he’s consulted on media technology strategy for organizations as varied as Sony DADC, NTT DoCoMo, The Economist Intelligence Unit and eMarketer. His analysis of the digital media economy (especially mobile) has appeared or been quoted in various Economist publications, WSJ, FT, NYT, and other media outlets.

His current consulting project involves producing a microsite for PwC on the state of Mobile Innovation (www.pwc.com/mobileinnovations). It’s a four part project that looks at the likely trajectory of core enabling technologies, new capabilities, new use cases and business models in mobile out to 2017.

A related focus area for him is the impact of cloud computing on the media and marketing industries. Some previous work included the first significant research about the impact of cloud computing for the media industry. Future research will introduce the business and technical architecture behind the next generation Media Operating System.
