Eric Bloom is an Analyst for Gigaom Research who also conducts objective, original research on smart building technology. His primary focuses are building energy management systems (BEMS), energy service companies (ESCOs), energy efficiency retrofits, green building technology and materials, energy policy, and energy efficiency financing. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Bloom was a research intern at Rocky Mountain Institute, where he provided support for a forthcoming book focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy use in the building sector. He also conducted research for the Environmental Defense Fund’s annual Innovations Review, analyzing cutting-edge sustainable business practices. Bloom previously interned at Atelier Ten, a building design and energy efficiency consultancy, and the Commission for Environmental Cooperation in Montreal, an intergovernmental office that addresses environmental issues across North America. Bloom graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Architecture and Urban Studies from Yale University.
