Positive signs for OpenStack
In his Weekly Update, David Linthicum, the Gigaom Research curator for cloud, takes a “mid-year OpenStack temperature check”.
He finds the technology and the community taking hold with strong players such as Red Hat, IBM, and HP making significant investments. HP, for example, includes a free OpenStack distribution with its Helion public and private cloud solution. These vendors are united behind OpenStack largely as a counter to AWS’s public cloud momentum, but open source is an increasing draw and David sees promise in OpenStack’s growing maturity.
