In his Weekly Update, Adam Lesser, the Gigaom Research curator for cleantech, reports back from Cisco’s Executive Symposium, where Cisco CEO John Chambers offered some observations and recommendations on the Internet of Things. Chambers suggested the IoT is all about the data: making sense of it to provide a useful service, not getting overwhelmed by it, thinking broadly about what data has utility, but starting simply in terms of finding applications and building usage.

Chambers made some other interesting comments as well, such as forecasting consolidation among ‘big IT’ from five to two players.
