An imperfect product that every enterprise needs
In his Weekly Update, David Linthicum, the Gigaom Research curator for cloud, takes the opportunity of AWS announcing a new cost management tool to address “Why cloud cost management needs to be heterogeneous and all inclusive”.
In short, he argues for a tool that is able to track costs in complex, multicloud environments, rather than relying on narrow, vendor-specific solutions. Though he doesn’t see any products out there that have perfectly nailed the requirements for multicloud cost management, he believes such a capability is necessary for the heterogeneous cloud environments that are coalescing in the enterprise.
