Bell Labs establishes a cloud partnership with the Tecnológico de Monterrey University in Mexico

This week Bell Labs announced that it devised a research and development project in the domain of cloud computing.  For that purpose, it has established a partnership with the Tecnológico de Monterrey University in Mexico.

“This project will be carried out in the Campus Cuernavaca of the university of Tecnológico de Monterrey Mexico. This project of the research and development department of the Alcatel Lucent company called ‘Bell Labs’ would be one of the futuristic project in the domain of the cloud computing technologies, which will provide a springboard for both the students and the faculty of the university to apply their expertise, knowledge and research skills in the practical and real environment of cloud computing infrastructure to be established by the Bell Labs.”

One of the issues we have in the world of cloud computing is the lack of cloud computing skills.  The Universities have done a poor job preparing students for an environment where the cloud rules.  Those who understand how to leverage cloud-based platforms will find the job hunt easy and the salaries high.

Hopefully, we’ll see more partnerships like this by the bigger cloud players, such as AWS, Microsoft, IBM, Google, HP, etc..  It’s a good thing.
