CPAs worried about security must still go to cloud
Nearly half of CPA firms use cloud applications to store and transfer sensitive files, despite the fact that 43% lack confidence in cloud security, according to a recent survey. “And with many predicting that the cloud will be a more prominent target for malicious intent in 2014, it’s time for CPAs to be more conscious of how they transfer sensitive data.”
The fact of the matter is that CPAs worry about everything, so their concern about security in the cloud does not seem like that much of a surprise. However, they are also cost sensitive. The cost advantages of cloud computing are too compelling to pass up, security issues be-dammed.
I also find this to be the general attitude in businesses across most industries. Enterprises are concerned about security issues, but that does not seem to stop them from moving to the cloud. Even those who were pushing back hard all seem to have cloud-based deployments these days. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
