Salesforce.com launches an integration platform called Salesforce1

The Dreamforce conference is underway in San Francisco this week, and Salesforce.com has unveiled Salesforce1.  Salesforce1 is a new integration platform that unifies many of the disparate systems that are now a part of Salesforce.com, using a platform designed to allow the creation of social and mobile apps.

Salesforce1 allows the rapid creation of applications that can work across Salesforce’s sales, service, and marketing apps, as well as on top of its Force.com, Heroku, and ExactTarget Fuel platforms.  This product can be obtained through a free, automatic upgrade for existing Salesforce customers.

The number of features and subsystems that Salesforce.com added in the last year has been mind bending.  They are seeking new lines of revenue to keep up the quarter-on-quarter growth that public companies live and die by.

However, they have also created a complex set of platforms that users find are difficult to work and play well together, and it looks like Salesforce1 will be the way you drive them as a single solution.  This is an obvious missing piece that Salesforce.com added.
