RightScale takes a more analytical approach
According to Network World, “RightScale today came out with new functionality for its cloud management portfolio that helps customers not only control resources from multiple public clouds but also provide analytical insight about how those resources are being used.”
Last year RightScale acquired Planforcloud.com, which specializes in analytical reports of cloud usage. While many management tools do provide some basic analytics, this tool is one of the first to combine management of multi-cloud environments with insight into how the resources are being consumed and techniques on how to optimize the usage.
As cloud management platforms (CMPs) become more popular, those who sell CMPs will provide more advanced features, such as analytics, to differentiate their base-products. RightScale is in an enviable position in the marketplace, considering they have good tools in an exploding space.
With the recent sale of ServiceMesh, it’s clear that there are some more huge exits forthcoming in the CMP space. CMP vendors with any insight are adding features, and thus value, as fast as they can. You can’t blame them, and certainly those who leverage multi-clouds will benefit.
