News from re:Invent
Amazon Web Services (AWS) re:Invent is taking place in Las Vegas this week. News is coming out of the event fast and furious. Here is a run-down of the release announcements from AWS this week. I’ll summarize the news next week, as well as provide more commentary as to the value of those leveraging AWS.
Amazon WorkSpaces: A fully managed desktop computing service in the cloud that allows customers to easily provision cloud-based desktops with access to the documents, applications, and resources that end-users need with the device of their choice, including laptops, iPad, Kindle Fire, and Android tablets.
AWS CloudTrail: Allows AWS customers to capture AWS API activity for multiple AWS accounts. AWS CloudTrail records the calls made to the AWS APIs using the AWS Management Console, the AWS CLI, the applications, and third-party software, and then publishes the resulting log files to an Amazon S3 bucket.
Amazon AppStream: Provides a flexible, low-latency service that allows customers to stream resource-intensive applications and games from the cloud. It deploys and renders applications on AWS infrastructure, and then streams the output to mass-market devices such as personal computers, tablets, and mobile phones.
