Creating innovative business models in mobile is hard

Great post by Gigaom Research mobile curator Colin Gibbs on why technology is easy. Creating innovative business models is hard. The importance of actual customer demand and the challenge when new infrastructure is required should not to be underestimated.

I haven’t lived in Boston for over a decade, but when I left mobile payment apps were far and away the favored product dream of young engineers swarming local MIT Enterprise Forum events. Here we are a decade later largely still waiting for the revolution.

But now we have smartphones, in-store retail is getting deeply involved in mobile, and the big payment players are all massively involved. More to come, for sure.
