Rumors are swirling — as yet, unconfirmed — that Google, SAP, and Cisco are attempting bids on BlackBerry, even as the terms of a deal with Fairfax Financial Holdings seem to be settling out.
I can see the link up with Google most clearly, as an obvious integration with Google Apps for Business: a secure global network for messaging, which could easily be integrated intoGoogles current offerings. A similar case could be made for Cisco, and SAP, although a less obvious one.
Where’s Microsoft? It would be a natural fit in the company’s offerings, but as I recently said Microsoft has too much on its plate to do the obvious thing (see Blackberry proves how success can blind you).
