  1. Yes, I am describing the emerging model, and making the case that the OS vendors will implement, and make it interoperable.

  2. What is described is already done. With most of the file sharing I can share a file or folder with a contact, they get notification, and it starts syncing. These things are always going to be “apps” of some sort. Think about it…a OS is a “collection of apps”.

    It’s already implemented…what is NOT implemented is the API’s and/or standards that allow for interoperability. Everyone wants to own their own walled garden. It’s the ones that continue to innovate it that continue to be on top. There is no value in creating a “open garden”.
