As GigaOM’s Jordan Novet reports, “AT&T and CSC have formed a “global strategic alliance” to push CSC’s private cloud, BizCloud, and other CSC cloud products atop the telecommunications provider’s networks, the companies announced Tuesday. CSC will offer AT&T customers ‘application expertise’ and migrate applications, while AT&T will handle certain CSC network services for commercial customers through the deal, which runs until 2020.”
Most of us did not know that either CSC or AT&T were in the cloud computing game, let alone conspiring. Telecom and IT powerhouses, such as AT&T and CSC, should be leading the game. However, these behemoths are clearly playing catch-up to the likes of AWS, Google, and Microsoft.
A few enterprises that are already in bed with one or both of these guys may bite on their offering. Indeed, if there is any hope, it’s in the larger enterprises that have still not adopted a “cloud partner.” That said, this is nothing new or innovative.
