In the continued expansion of its enterprise ecosystem efforts, Box announced a new program for developers to make revenue from sales of Box seats, as well as making new SDKs (software development kits) for iOS, Android, and Java (Web).

Box $rev is an industry-first monetization model that allows our partners to generate recurring revenue from their app(s), based on the activity driven across Box’s enterprise customer base. By joining Box $rev, partners are eligible to receive up to 15% of the per seat price as a commission for the value they bring to our user base.

Box doesn’t take an Apple-style bite out of third-party revenues; all fees charged go to the developer company.

Box already has over 500 participants in its earlier OneCloud initiative, but this will likely increase the ecosystem dramatically.
