Salesforce.com Releases New Mobile Application Development Tools
Salesforce.com will release a new set of tools and services for customers and partners to build mobile applications on its cloud platform. The movement to mobile computing is pretty obvious, and Salesroce.com will provide the tools required to support work on smartphones, tablets, or any other mobile device.
Version 2.0 of Salesforce.com’s mobile SDK (software development kit) will be generally available in June. This SDK will make it possible for developers to link business system data contained in the Salesforce.com’s CRM (customer relationship management) system to mobile applications. These applications could be native, such as iOS and Android, or they may be HTML5.
As clouds mature, they all need to support mobile application development in some shape or form. The ability to provide access to back-end data, and to core business processes and services will be in greater demand as the proliferation of mobile devices and BYOD continues.
This puts traditional SaaS providers in position to support complex software at the points, meaning phones, tablets, laptops, etc., and thus make their businesses even more complex. However, lacking mobile support, users would move-on.
