Today in Mobile
Today’s must-read comes from Bloomberg, which offers an update of Nokia’s strategy of partnering with Microsoft and Windows Phone to regain its lost relevance in mobile. Nokia has made the U.S. a top priority after years of almost neglecting the market, but it seems the Lumia line is getting lost among all the other smartphones on carriers’ retail floors. I think that has a lot to do with Nokia’s longtime unwillingness to capitulate to carriers, which traditionally have had much more control over the handset-distribution business in the U.S. than in other markets. Nokia seems to be moving the right direction here, but the Bloomberg piece illustrates just how much work Nokia has yet to do.
