Today in Social

Somebody leaked Twitter’s pitch deck for big brand advertisers, possibly in response to some of the coverage Facebook is getting for its Olympics tie-in with NBC. Which social media platform does big events best? AllThingsD points out that Twitter promotes mobile – not that its mobile ads are really any better than Facebook’s – and a glossy new page for brands. And who wouldn’t want custom analytics and discounts for big spenders? But seriously, has anyone heard of an advertiser spending $6 million with Twitter? I don’t know how you’d do it. The gloss is nice. Just the opposite of Facebook’s lame idea to experiment with even more ads per page. That’s no way to get out of the low-priced direct-marketing basement. But Facebook made some progress on brand-friendly ad formats earlier, and has been offering brand pages forever.
