Today in Mobile
Consolidation continued in the mobile advertising space today when the pan-Asian operator SingTel announced it had acquired Amobee for $321 million. SingTel is relatively unknown in the U.S. but it claims 343 million users in 25 countries, so it has the global footprint and deep pockets to make this acquisition a winner. But simply buying a thriving mobile ad company is no guarantee of success — just look at AOL’s pick-up of Third Screen Media or Nokia’s acquisition of Enpocket, among others — so SingTel must move wisely here if it hopes to build on Amobee’s success.
