Research In Motion held a conference call this morning to introduce new CEO Thorsten Heins, who replaces the co-CEOs who had manned the helm of the BlackBerry maker for two decades. But while the shakeup was long overdue, my colleague Ryan Kim rightly asks whether the move will really change anything. Heins certainly doesn’t seem to have the sense of urgency needed to right the ship, and he seems focused on stepping up RIM’s marketing rather than getting the crucial QNX-based BlackBerry 10 platform out the door as quickly as possible. Investors aren’t impressed either, sending shares of RIM down more than 5 percent in early-morning trading.
