Digital agency IgnitionOne’s CEO predicts we’re about to see the start of the online advertising technology shake-out. True, various segments of online ad tech are crowded, with less integration than buyers would like. You’ve seen the industry-map graphics from LUMA Partners. But there’s still lots of new money coming in. Search agency Trada – that calls itself a “marketplace” – raised $9 million and Lithium Technologies, that makes social networking community marketing tools, got $53 million. Klout, the company that’s trying to create influencer rankings for social media marketing, may have raised as much as $30 million. I suspect we will see more expansion before there’s any serious consolidation, especially in social marketing tools, an ecosystem that’s still pretty immature.
