When you open the newly redesigned YouTube, the legend in the browser tab still says “YouTube — Broadcast Yourself.” But there isn’t a lot of “You” happening on the home screen. The rollout of the new “channelized” YouTube does away with eclectic, cluttered home page dating from YouTube’s earliest, user-generated content days, in favor of a sleek, professional look, with Google’s curated channels prominently displayed. In short, it looks a lot more like traditional TV than something that sprang from the wild and woolly World Wide Web. And that’s probably the point.
