Today in Mobile
The death of AT&T’s move to acquire T-Mobile USA is dominating the headlines this morning, as you probably figured. The only clear loser here is AT&T, which will have to hand over billions in cash and spectrum to T-Mobile USA as outlined by the breakup fee. And while there is no shortage of winners — from consumers to T-Mobile itself to smaller carriers — the player getting the most attention today is Dish Network, which has long wanted space on the wireless dance floor. Dish Network’s spectrum seems to get more valuable by the day, and it could partner with any number of mobile carriers or perhaps be acquired by AT&T. Which is why its shares were up more than 8 percent this morning.
