Earth2tech’s Katie Fehrenbacher interviewed Best Buy’s home energy platform lead about Best Buy’s trialing of home energy management sections in three stores. It’s clearly a pilot project that will guide whether Best Buy wants to go further into the home energy management space, and it’s not terribly helpful that the most exciting new product in the home energy space, the sleek Nest thermostat, is sold out until 2012. That said, growing concerns from Americans about their utility bills combined with some new design innovation in the space are making it a bit more interesting.
