Today in Mobile
Nokia took to the stage at its annual conference in London, and the response from the press and tech enthusiasts has thus far been pretty positive. The beleaguered manufacturer introduced four new Symbian handsets built for upwardly mobile young users in emerging markets, dubbing the line “Asha” — Hindi for “hope.” More importantly, though, it trotted out its first two Windows Phone devices – the Lumia line — which will begin coming to market in the next few weeks and will hit U.S. shores early next year. While the devices certainly look compelling, the smartphone market is now a very crowded space with a lot of attractive — and affordable — options for consumers. So with apologies to TechCrunch, it’s way too early to call this a comeback.
