Today in Connected Consumer

So now what? Hulu’s owners announced late yesterday that the video streaming sight will not be sold after all. News Corp. and Disney didn’t say why theychanged their mind but the most likely explanation is that bids were not coming in where the networks wanted them to be. The question now is what happens to Hulu going forward? In a statement, News Corp. and Disney said, “Our focus now rests solely on ensuring that our efforts as owners contribute in a meaningful way to the exciting future that lies ahead for Hulu,” whatever that means. Whether Hulu’s  “exciting” future will include current CEO Jason Kilar is anyone’s guess. Kilar has clashed publicly with his bosses over the direction of the company and appeared to be sticking around only because everyone expected a sale or IPO. Now that the sale is off, tensions between Kilar and the networks could again surface.
