The tablet market is having a chaotic week, with HP re-entering, albeit temporarily, the fray by doing another limited production run of the Touchpad, and Amazon looking like its Android tablet will start production in Q1 of next year. I am not entirely sure what HP’s intentions are, since profit surely couldn’t be at the top of the list since these devices likely will retail at $99 or slightly above. I am also surprised Amazon’s entry will not be before the holiday season, which will no doubt see massive sales of tablets. Either way, I expect Amazon to likely be competitive here, especially considering they see a rising threat from the Nook Color, which has been the most successful Android tablet to date.
