Today in Cloud
It’s a common perception — with a basis in reality — that the United States is leading the charge to the cloud. The biggest cloud companies are there, and so is much of the adoption. A passing comment over coffee from Xeround CEO Razi Sharir last week intrigued me and many of those to whom I repeated it. Xeround, Razi said, is seeing 50% of their adoption originating outside the States. Is the balance finally beginning to shift? The champion of UK export and inward investment, UK Trade & Investment, certainly seems to hope so, with a concerted push underway to persuade the rest of the world that “the UK leads the way in the emerging and revolutionary technology of cloud computing, with ground-breaking R&D and a host of innovative home-grown companies.” That’s sorted, then. All we need to work out now is whether Amazon et al are going to relocate to Slough… or simply be overtaken by a new wave of UK innovation.
