Today in Social

Several local social commerce stories are up today, and there’s a mobile angle driving them. Foursquare will distribute daily deals from LivingSocial, Gilt Groupe and AT&T. This saves Foursqare the cost of a big local sales force and may help the daily dealers develop loyalty programs for merchants. Groupon is still working things out with Foursquare. Adding distribution would be good for Groupon, since its email provider went down over the weekend with pretty disastrous results. Meanwhile, AT&T’s yellow pages group is beefing up its mobile offering and putting together a collection of local marketing services for merchants. Google is taking its Offers product beyond its initial trial in Portland, and is now testing in New York and the Bay Area.
