Verizon posted its second-quarter earnings today, and the results from its mobile business were mixed: Mobile data revenue grew 22 percent over the year-ago period as the company added 2.2 million subscribers, but Verizon Wireless (which is a joint venture with Vodafone) reported declining ARPU and disappointing sales of the iPhone. “AT&T has done a much better job of hanging on to iPhone customers than anybody expected,” said Credit Suisse analyst Jonathan Chaplin. So while many of us in the industry have hammered AT&T over its network woes, it’s clear that many of its subscribers aren’t exactly champing at the bit to switch carriers.
