Google hit the reset button on its company pages strategy for its brand new Google+ social media “project.” Now, Google says it is shifting priorities, and in a few months it will have a company page option that will be available to everybody, not just a small group of trial customers. (Meanwhile, it’s still working with a small group of trial customers like Ford Motor Co.) TechCrunch and Danny Sullivan (Search Engine Land) are PO’d because they think Pete Cashmore (Mashable) got special treatment. Google, do yourself a favor and keep working with Ford. You don’t want Google+ to end up what Twitter started as, a tool for the technorati. You want mass-market appeal. Don’t build too many features for digerati; they’re the same people that whined when Twitter put an ad on top of its mobile client.
