VMware argues that many (most?) customers will not be adversely affected, but there&#039;s a lot of grumbling at the links you gave and elsewhere. Even if the affected customers really are in the minority, they would appear to be quite a vocal minority, and VMware&#039;s competitors will no doubt make the most of it.]]></description>

I think you missed one more important part of VMware&#039;s announcement. They changed pricing and licensing model for vSphere 5 to make ti relevant for both on-premise and cloud environments. 

But, most of the existing vSphere users are really not happy with new licensing changes. It seems that new licensing will increase costs. Already few VMware customers are planing to switch to Hyper-V. This is a huge opportunity for Microsoft to tap VMware customers with thier low pricing model. Please check below mentioned links.
