Today in Mobile
Apple made good on its promise to disclose details about the upcoming iOS 5 at today’s WWDC in San Francisco, and the upgraded operating system sounds pretty impressive. The platform will offer more than 200 new features including integration with Twitter and upgrades to the browser, camera app, e-mail and Game Center. Most important, though, is the new iMessage service that takes aim at both Research In Motion and the carriers. It’s way too early to claim that Apple “has stuck a dagger into SMS,” but there’s no question that the company continues to loosen the carriers’ grip on the industry they once owned.
