Microsoft finally took the wraps off early versions of Windows 8 at D9 yesterday, and the new OS is a radical departure from previous Windows desktop and PC OS’s. Windows 8 clearly takes a heavy shot of influence from the new Windows Phone UI, and the tile-based look and feel will, as most have indicated, looks much more at home on a tablet. The big question remaining is will Windows 8 be too late for the tablet party by the time it is released in 2012?
