So how did you hear about it? Matthew Ingram does a great job analyzing how Twitter really played last night in the Osama Bin Laden story, and its role in the news ecosystem.  Others hype Twitter’s “CNN moment” where a news event makes a news brand – Twitter’s had several of those moments already, as Matthew notes. “Amplification” is not a bad way of putting it. It certainly isn’t “clarification.” Several prominent web-savvy journalists tweeting last night couldn’t make up their minds whether to make bad jokes, pass along – sometimes verbatim – what the mainstream media was reporting, or critique that same media. That wasn’t a progression; it was just clutter.
